Ive just taken delivery of a Custom built Mahogany with Quilted Maple cap Thinline, hardtail Strat and a Birds Eye maple/rosewood CBS headstocked neck, I am going to use Tru Oil to finish both and would be interested to hear how You use it? Both body and neck are still in their natural state, the neck will
Does anyone have any good references for finishing a guitar with tru oil? I've seen some simplistic directions but I'd like something more thorough. Once that was done, I did 2 coats, slightly heavier, but still cleaned off the excess after about 5 minutes, and allowed a couple hours to let the coat dry
9 Jul 2015 If you wish to finish your guitar before you attach the neck and glue the bridge, then follow along and just ignore the parts that don't relate to your situation. Apply a dab or 2 of tru-oil to your mouse and then tap the mouse aggressive several times on a piece of scrapwood in order to spread the Tru-oil on
25 Apr 2014 I've been using Tru-Oil for quite some time now, and I've been getting excellent results on wooden plectrums, trussrod covers and other items that only have small, flat areas that need to be finished. There also seems to be a lot of confusion about it too.
Hey guys. I'm new to the forum. I have a sx s-style guitar from rondo music. It has a beautiful body, but the neck has to go. I want to buy a warmoth neck, but I can only afford one unfinished. I want to use tru-oil and finish it myself. Could anyone give me step-by-step instructions? Thanks, Mitch. mitchrulzworld
I sanded the top on my old cedar guitar and finished with tru-oil, watched youtube videos and it still didnt look like theirs when done, not sure what the best Wipe off excess and let dry for as long as you want. but not less than 24 hours. this coat is very important as it seals the wood and the deeper the oil
If you want to learn more about wood finishing, I have written a PDF guide that is free to download called the 10 Step Guide to Wood Finishing. Tru-Oil has been my finish of choice for acoustic guitars for years, because it is the perfect blend of beauty and protection for wood projects. A step by step finishing schedule
